Travis Kelce’s friendship bracelet story — in which he used the item in an attempt to slip his number to Taylor Swift — has been heard around the world. And now, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is making them in NFL and Nickelodeon’s joint game day promo.
NFL and Nickelodeon shared a joint promo to Instagram of its upcoming Nickelodeon: NFL Nickmas Game program set to air on Christmas Day, with an illustrated easter egg teaser for the Chiefs’ game against the Las Vegas Raiders. “Can you spot all the Easter eggs? 🏈🎄unwrap all the surprises with #NFLonNickmas,” the Dec. 19 post was captioned.
The photo features several NFL players from both the Raiders and the Chiefs teams, some tackling each other for gifts, exchanging presents and interacting with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Kelce’s illustrated counterpart appears on the bottom right corner, making what’s soon to be his fourth friendship bracelet.
In a July episode of Travis and his brother Jason’s New Heights podcast, the tight end revealed that he attempted to talk with Swift after her concerts at Arrowhead Stadium, but was unsuccessful. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” he said, “so I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
Travis explained the friendship bracelet phenomenon further to his brother, and added, “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts, there are friendship bracelets. I received a bunch of them being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.” Thought the pair didn’t meet up after Swift’s concerts, the rest, as they say, is history.
