After announcing on Wednesday (Jan. 31) that the next resident artist at Las Vegas’ Sphere would be Dead & Company, the Grateful Dead spin-off band revealed the dates for their six-week summer run on Thursday (Feb. 1). The shows dubbed Dead Forever will consist of 18 shows overs six consecutive weeks from May 16 through June 22.
The gigs will run Thursday-Saturday, and, according to a release, “feature never-before-seen visual storytelling from Dead & Company, providing fans with the ultimate connection to the music through these innovative and immersive shows.” Of course, the band known for their psychedelic musical wanderings will play a unique setlist during each weekend’s shows at the 20,000-capacity state-of-the-art venue that has wowed crowds during the inaugural run by U2 with eye-popping visuals on the world’s highest resolution warp-around LED screen; U2’s U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere shows began in September and are slated to wind down on March 2.
Dead & Company — which includes Grateful Dead founding member guitarist/singer Bob Weir and longtime drummer/percussionist Mickey Hart, as well as John Mayer, Jeff Chimenti and Oteil Burbridge — formed in 2015. Co-founder drummer Bill Kreutzmann was originally part of the band as well, but he exited in 2023, before the band kicked off what it called its “final tour” last summer.
Phish are slated to slide in after U2 and before jam progenitors Dead & Company for an April 18-21 run.
In an attempt to ensure tickets get into the hands of Deadheads, advance presale registration for the shows are available here now; advance registration does not guarantee tickets. An artist presale begins on Monday (Feb. 5) at 1 p.m. ET, with a general onsale kicking off on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. ET here. Tickets begin at $145, which includes taxes and fees.
