4batz has finally dropped his debut mixtape U Made Me a St4r on Friday (May 3).
The mixtape features previously released singles “Act I: Stickerz ’99,’” “Act II: Date @ 8,” “Act III: On God (She Like),” and “Act V: There Goes Another Vase.” Drake hopped on the remix for his viral smash “Act II: Date @ 8,” catapulting the track to No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also topped Hot R&B Songs (chart dated March 23), ending a historic run for SZA, who had reigned atop the chart for 53 weeks with four songs – “Kill Bill,” “Snooze,” Drake’s “Slime You Out” (which features SZA) and “Saturn.”
There are four more “acts” on the project — “Act IV: Fckin U (18+),” “Act VI: Mad Man,” “Act VII: All We Do Is Argue, Argue” and “Act VIII: I Hate to Be Alone” — as well as an intro (“Umademeast4r.mp3), “Get Out Yo Feelings Ho” and a bonus track, “Ong? (she like) remix” with Ye (formerly known as Kanye West).
4batz revealed the title of his debut project in his Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the Month interview in March. “I remember listening to Aaliyah. [Sings] ‘Rock the boat, rock the boat.’ And I’m throwing up gang signs. And I’m like, ‘Why am I doing that? Why does this yin-yang factor feel so good to me?’” he said at the time about shocking people online with his sound compared to his physical aesthetic. “I was always [interested in] doing something that don’t supposed to be looking like you’re supposed to be doing it. I had a feeling it was going to do something. I didn’t know it was gonna do this!”
