There is no joy quite like the elation of a first-time grandma kvelling over the impending birth of her first grand baby. Which explains why Justin Bieber‘s mom, Patti Mallette, was absolutely glowing and bursting with pride in a driver’s seat video she posted on Thursday (May 9) in which she exhaled the great news after sitting on it for way too long.
“So, I have been waiting for this day and now that they have shared it I can finally celebrate with y’all,” she said excitedly into the camera. “Oh my gosh, I’m gonna be a grandma! Oh my goodness! YES!,” she squeals in a brief Instagram video captioned, “BABY BIEBER IS ON THE WAY!! I’m gonna be a GRANDMA!!🎉🙌CONGRATULATIONS @justinbieber and @haileybieber !! My heart is so full. What an exciting new adventure. Love you so much!”
The video posted after Bieber and wife Hailey Bieber announced earlier Thursday that they were expecting their first child in a series of photos and videos from a film shoot in which Hailey cradles her growing baby bump as JB snaps pics of her. Mallette appeared to get a bit too excited at first when commenting on a post from her son’s father-in-law, actor Stephen Baldwin, on which she wrote, “Congratulations Grandpa! WE ARE GONNA HAVE THE CUTEST GRAND-BABIES EVER!”
After the comments on Baldwin’s post blew up with Beliebers speculating that Mallette had accidentally revealed that the couple might be having twins, she quickly, and adamantly, clarified, “No not twins lol I wish. I just mean in general. Hopefully they will have more than one eventually. They will make beautiful babies whenever they have them. One is enough for now 😂.”
The couple officially got married in September 2018 at a New York City courthouse, flying down to the Montage Palmetto Bluff hotel in South Carolina a year later to celebrate with friends and family for a more traditional wedding ceremony and star-studded party.
“Okay, Justin and Hailey you are gonna be the best parents ever!,” Mallette predicted in her video. “And I am sooo excited! Oh my goodness, praise God!”
