Announced today (May 20), the new re-release comes in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the album, and sees the band recall the legacy of the 2014 LP.
Originally shared back in May 2014, the album marked the second official album from Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson – or their sixth if taking early CD-R efforts into account. It went on to receive huge critical acclaim from outlets including NME, who gave it a glowing four-star review and hailed the band as one of the few with the edge to “sing songs about the gutter”.
Now, 10 years after it first dropped, Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson have confirmed that the 2024 re-release will be arriving on July 26 and features a special new sleeve, designed by friend and collaborator British artist Cold War Steve.
Released by Rough Trade Records, the new edition of ‘Divide and Exit will feature’ will also see new sleeve notes written by frontman Williamson, while The Wire’s 2014 interview with the band will also be reprinted in full. A limited-edition flexi disc, featuring the never previously released ‘Git Some Balls’ and artwork by Jason Williamson will be included in initial editions.
“Where our previous album ‘Austerity Dogs’ barked a directionless yet solid form of anger, ‘Divide and Exit’ then carried this basic form of class consciousness,” said Williamson, looking back at the album.
“After the release of ‘Austerity Dogs’ we realised we had seemingly created a formula… Andrew just took the formula and ran with it and his music started to sound much more compact and urgent.”

He continued: “Listening to it now, ‘Divide and Exit’ is perhaps the most punk record we have done. There wasn’t anyone in the country doing what we were doing at that point, it feels like it was 30 years ago, but it’s only been 10. Mad as fuck.”
As well as the album reissue, a CD version of the album (featuring the Cold War Steve artwork) will be available exclusively from Sleaford Mods and Rough Trade Records online shops. Similarly, the new cover will feature on a one-off t-shirt; available from the band’s web store and all proceeds being donated to War Child UK.
