According to AP, the singer was in Long Island, New York when he was accused of driving under the influence earlier today (June 18). Per a statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office, Timberlake was expected to be arraigned in Sag Harbor, on the eastern end of Long Island.

Sag Harbor is an incorporated village in Suffolk County, New York, United States, in the towns of Southampton and East Hampton on eastern Long Island. It is roughly about 100 miles (160 kilometres) from New York City and serves as a hotspot for wealthy visitors in the summer.

The official could not publicly discuss details of the ongoing investigation and spoke to AP on the condition of anonymity. Timberlake’s representatives did not immediately return requests for comment from The Associated Press.

Elsewhere, Timberlake recently released his sixth album ‘Everything I Thought It Was’. In a three-star review, NME wrote: “Timberlake is a less beloved pop superstar than he probably should be 25 years after he sang ‘It’s gonna be may’ on an era-defining NSYNC banger.

“‘Everything I Thought It Was’ shows he hasn’t lost his vocal chops or ability to work a groove, but it doesn’t do enough to make you block out past misdemeanours. For now, Timberlake’s problematic fave era will have to wait.”

In other news, the singer is set to perform a two-night run at Chicago’s United Center on June 21 and 22 followed by two shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden next week (June 25, 26).

Earlier this year, *NSYNC held a surprise reunion at Timberlake’s show in Los Angeles, where they held their first live performance since 2013.
