Eminem‘s long-awaited 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady, has been out for more than an entire weekend, meaning fans have had plenty of time to decide on their favorite songs from the album — and Billboard wants to know yours.
Four years after 2020’s Billboard 200-topping Music to Be Murdered By, the Detroit rapper’s latest LP dropped Friday (July 12) and earned almost immediate positive feedback from listeners. Many fans flocked to the more classic-Slim tracks such as lead single “Houdini” — which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June — or second single “Tobey,” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron. Others were more partial to the emotional, family-oriented ballads “Temporary” and “Somebody Save Me,” with the former serving as a pre-death love letter from Em to his daughter Hailie Jade, and the latter acting as an apology to all three of the hip-hop star’s kids for his faults as a father that heavily samples Jelly Roll’s hit “Save Me.”
Regardless, the 19-track effort has left fans floored. “im speechless,” one person tweeted a few hours after the album dropped. “25 years later & its a full circle moment. eminem delivers one of his best albums & showing us what slim shady does one last time.”
“he just dropped the best album within the last decade … Your favorite rapper can’t f–king compete,” another person added on X.
