The R&B star posted a clip of the upcoming film – which showed him performing his 2010 hit single ‘OMG’ – last week. Now, Usher has shared a one-minute trailer soundtracked by the same song.
Opening with a shot of the singer looking over at the Paris skyline, the video intersperses live performance footage with cinematic scenes of Usher travelling through the French capital at nighttime.
“City of lights – I came here to find something,” he says in a voiceover at one point. “Drifting on a river I cannot control.” The quote is accompanied by a clip of Usher in a boat on the Seine.
Elsewhere, Usher recalls the “blood, sweat and tears” that he put into the performance. Tune in here:
Usher: Rendezvous In Paris was filmed across the artist’s eight-night residency at Paris’ La Seine Musicale last year.
In a previous statement about the film, Usher explained: “Paris was a special experience for me as an entertainer and for my fans.
“I hope those who weren’t able to make it in person get to experience how special it was. As for those of you who were, I hope you experience the show and see what it takes to get there through a different lens.”
An official synopsis reads: “Usher: Rendezvous In Paris is a concert film incorporating the essence of his landmark cultural phenomenon Vegas residencies into a seductive French touch confession.
“Captured during Paris Fashion Week at La Seine Musicale, the film features chart-topping hits including ‘Yeah!’, ‘My Boo’, ‘Love In This Club’ and more from Usher’s 30-year career, performed with never-before-seen costumes and state-of-the-art lighting and special effects.”
It adds: “In addition to bringing the vibrant live concert experience to screen, Usher gives audiences a glimpse inside life beyond the stage – creating a global movie moment that U won’t want to miss.”
Usher recently received an Emmy nomination for his Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada this February.
Next year, he’ll play a huge 10 concerts at The O2 in London as part of his 2025 UK and European tour. He released his ninth studio album, ‘Coming Home’, earlier this year – following on from 2016’s ‘Hard II Love’.
