Fred Durst recently joined Corey Feldman on stage to confirm that the latter’s viral guitar solo is real, amid speculation that he is miming. Check out the footage below.
Actor Feldman (The Goonies, Gremlins, The Lost Boys) is currently supporting Limp Bizkit on their North American ‘Loserville’ tour, which is scheduled to conclude next Saturday (August 24).
During his opening slot at the Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham, Alabama last Friday (August 9), Feldman was interrupted midway through his set by Durst – who wanted to get to the bottom of an ongoing online debate.
As Consequence notes, some fans believe that the actor is faking his guitar-shredding skills owing to his unconventional and rudimentary style of soloing. After walking out onto the stage with a chair, Durst took a seat next to Feldman.
“Word on the street is Corey Feldman is not playing this guitar solo,” the frontman said to the audience over the mic. “I wanna know if Corey Feldman is really playing this motherfucking solo. How ’bout you?”
He went on to ask Feldman to resume his solo with “no tricks, no tracks, no nothing”, adding: “Hit it!”
With Durst closely watching, he proceeded to showcase the solo that has earned the most attention – a basic ascending ‘scale’ with heavy reverb and delay. The effects make it look like Feldman is hitting more notes than he is.
The Limp Bizkit singer then told him to “stop” and “start again”, to which he agreed as the crowd cheered him on. “He’s fucking doing it,” Durst yelled, proving there’s no backing track or miming at play.

Feldman has responded to the claims that he is faking his guitar playing, writing on Instagram: “I’m laughing so hard, cuz that would imply some gr8 guitarist played it 4 me & I’m [the] air guitarist.
“The best part is I’m not even that good, hence the guitar hero faces.”
The actor also called himself the “king of trolls” during a recent episode of the X5 Podcast (via Loudwire).
“I got the whole world, not just questioning whether it was a good guitar solo or not a good guitar solo, but I got them questioning whether I was even playing it,” he explained.
“Guitar World wrote an article yesterday saying, ‘hundreds of thousands of comments have flooded all over the internet’ to talk about this amazing guitar solo that I couldn’t possibly be playing.”
Feldman went on to describe his much-talked-about shredding as “one of the world’s worst guitar solos – intentionally”. “Come on, people – it’s pretty obvious,” he continued. “The song’s called ‘The Joke’.”
You can watch the interview in the video above.
Corey Feldman has released four solo studio albums, the most recent being 2021’s ‘Love Left 2: Arm Me With Love’. He has also shared two full-length records with Corey Feldman’s Truth Movement: ‘Still Searching For Soul’ (1999) and ‘Technology Analogy’ (2010).
Earlier this summer, Download Festival boss Andy Copping suggested that Limp Bizkit should headline the event. The group sub-headlined the final day of this year’s edition ahead of Avenged Sevenfold‘s closing set.
