The wait is over: Kehlani dropped her While We Wait 2 mixtape on Wednesday (Aug. 28) via TSNMI and Atlantic Records.
They released the “When He’s Not There” single, featuring Lucky Daye, earlier this week — four years after they featured him on “Can You Blame Me” from her 2020 sophomore studio album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t. The 14-track mixtape includes additional collaborations with Kwn (“Clothes Off”), Lil Mo’ and Vince Staples (“Know Better”), ChildofNines and Destin Conrad (“Form of You”) and Dixson (“Slow Dance”). FLO and Ludmilla are featured on the remixes of “8” and the Rhythmic Airplay No. 4 hit “After Hours,” respectively, which were both originally featured on their fourth studio album Crash from June, which reached No. 25 on the Billboard 200.
Kehlani released While We Wait on Feb. 22, 2019, via Atlantic Records, and the nine-track project included collaborations with Musiq Soulchild (“Footsteps”), Dom Kennedy (“Nunya”), Ty Dolla $ign (“Nights Like This”) and 6lack (“RPG”). While We Wait reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200. They performed “Nights Like This” at the top of their NPR Tiny Desk performance in July.
Kehlani’s Crash World Tour starts next month on Sept. 4 at Minneapolis’ Armory and will go through major cities such as Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles before the Bay Area native wraps it up on Nov. 2 at San Francisco’s Chase Center. FLO and Anycia will join as special guests.
