Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his wife, Chloé Mendel Corgan, are expecting their third child. The couple, who already share son Augustus, 8 and Philomena, 5, announced the news to People magazine on Wednesday (August 28).
“We are overjoyed to announce that our family is growing!” Mendel Corgan, 31, told the magazine. “It’s an exciting time for us, although unexpected!” Corgan, 57, added, “On Sunday, we shared the news with our children, Augustus Juppiter and Philomena Clementine. While Augustus was overjoyed, Clementine, the younger of the two, asked if the baby was made already and shed a few tears of concern, which was honestly adorable. Now, both kids are beaming, and it makes it so much fun to share the joy of bringing more love into our family. We are truly blessed.”
The couple — who began dating in 2012 and got married in Sept. 2023 at their lakeside home in Chicago’s Highland Park — run the cozy tea shop Madame Zuzu’s in their neighborhood and Mendel is the CEO and co-creative director of the fashion line House of Gilles. Corgan is currently on the road with the Linda Lindas and Rancid on Green Day’s Saviors Tour and in a recent Instagram video he gave fans a backstage look at what it’s like to roll with his family from city-to-city during the stadium-rocking summer outing. The next date on the run is Wednesday night at Truist Park in Atlanta.
The Pumpkins released their 13th studio album, Aghori Mhori Mei, earlier this month, with the collection topping Billboard’s new music poll for the week ending August 2. The collection is the follow-up to last year’s three-act, 33-song rock opera, ATUM.
