A source at Anfield Stadium has responded to rumours that Coldplay‘s UK tour may stop off at the Liverpool venue.

The band are currently embarking on their ‘Music of the Spheres’ tour, which has recently become the biggest rock tour of all time.

They’re set to continue their reign as they announced a series of giant London and Hull stadium shows just days ago. Kicking off next August at Craven Park and Wembley Stadium, you can purchase any remaining tickets here.

Fans speculated there may be potential Anfield show when an Avanti West Coast train arrived into Liverpool Lime Street station earlier this month. The train’s display read: “Everyone is an alien somewhere” – a common Coldplay phrase seen on their merchandise, throughout interviews, and also connected to their 2017 song ‘Alien’.

Now, a source close to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium has revealed to the Liverpool Echo whether Coldplay might perform in the city. According to the Echo, Coldplay aren’t due to stop off in Liverpool, with the source saying: “We have not had any discussions with Coldplay’s representatives. Not a single conversation has been had.”

Coldplay are due to release their upcoming 10th album ‘Moon Music‘. Releasing on October 4, you can pre-order the album here. The record, which will be available on vinyl made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles, has reportedly been produced by the legendary Max Martin (Taylor SwiftThe WeekndKaty Perry).

The band have previously claimed they would stop releasing albums by 2025, telling Jo Whiley in 2021 that they were coming to the end of their time writing new material.

“Well I know I can tell you: our last proper record will come out in 2025 and after that I think we will only tour,” frontman Chris Martin told her. “Maybe we’ll do some collaborative things but the Coldplay catalogue, as it were, finishes then.”

Martin shared a similar sentiment with NME too in 2021, saying it was “intense” trying to release new albums.

“We’re going to make 12 albums,” he said at the time. “Because it’s a lot to pour everything into making them. I love it and it’s amazing, but it’s very intense too.

“I feel like because I know that challenge is finite, making this music doesn’t feel difficult, it feels like, ‘This is what we’re supposed to be doing’.”

He added: “I don’t think that’s what we’ll do. I know that’s what we’ll do in terms of studio albums.”

In other news, Coldplay have just been announced to appear as a musical guest on SNL for their 50th season.
