“Tool” and “South American beach vacation” are an unlikely combination on paper, but the beloved hard rock band is indeed heading for the sunshine next spring as part of Live in the Sand, a new destination festival at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino & Royalton Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, on March 7-9, 2025.
Maynard James Keenan and company will play two sets during the event, which will also feature performances from Primus, Mastodon, Eagles of Death Metal, Coheed and Cambria, King’s X, Fishbone, Wheel, CKY and Moonwalker. According to organizers, these will be Tool’s first-ever performances in the Caribbean. Longtime Tool visual collaborators Alex Grey and Allyson Grey will also be on hand.

This the first rock music event produced by Festication, which has previously created numerous gatherings in the electronic space. Co-founder Donnie Estopinal had a memorable experience with Tool in 1996, when he booked a rave with the Crystal Method and Keoki at the same New Orleans venue hosting Tool at the exact same time.
“It was a mess flipping the room,” he recalls. “There were so many people outside that the cops were going to shut us down, so we just opened the doors at the end of the Tool concert. Anyone who wanted to stay did — and a lot of them stayed. It’s still part of NOLA lore today, and I still see people talking about it on message boards. Booking Tool nearly 30 years later feels like my career has come full circle. It’s incredible to go from that unforgettable night in New Orleans to now curating their first destination festival. This is the kind of experience I’ve always dreamed of bringing to fans — something immersive, intimate and legendary.”
