šŸŽ§ Approved: Jeshi

East London’s Jeshi encapsulates the raw, inherently punk spirit of rap, offering up sharp commentary on British working-class reality.

On his latest single ā€˜SCUMBAG’, Jeshi links up with JD. REID to flip Dizzee Rascal’s ā€˜Stand Up Tall’ into a gritty, glitchy rework fit for 2025. The grime classic gets twisted into something dark and futuristic, as Jeshi’s bars pick apart the chaos of adolescence and the things we leave behind.

ā€œā€˜SCUMBAG’ is about nostalgiaā€, Jeshi says. ā€œLooking back at the madness of being young, running around getting up to no good. It’s something I miss a lot, things being simpler and not having to care about everything as muchā€.

Jeshi is tapping into grime’s DNA, recharging it with his own perspective, and proving that the genre’s evolution is in good hands.

His new album ā€˜Airbag Woke Me Up’ is out 24 Jan.
