It appears that Self Esteem may be teasing her return to music after wiping her social media and sharing a new post.

Today (January 16) the singer – real name Rebecca Lucy Taylor – completely wiped clean her official Instagram account and shared a singular post of a black title with the sentence “And now, I know you’re feeling ready for your bow,” written in the centre of it.

She shared that same post on her official X/Twitter as well as on her Instagram stories. A sign-up link was also featured on her stories which directs those who click to her website and encourages all to sign up to her mailing list.

The post has left many thinking that the singer is now entering her new ear for her upcoming third album. Back in September, Taylor revealed that she was about “70 per cent” into making her “honest” third album.

While speaking to Nick Grimshaw as part of his Sidetracked podcast with Annie Macmanus, Taylor shared: “I think I’m 70 per cent through making the difficult third album,” she began, adding that she feels some pressure to keep up the momentum from her last studio release. “No one has ever been that interested in what I’m about to do. The last album had its little moment, so I’ve got a natural amount of stress from that.”

She also recalled how the new tracks have a different source of inspiration from her previous discography, explaining that what served as a main source of inspiration for her was finding herself at a crossroads in her career.

“I used to have a very clear idea about what I wanted… Now the idea isn’t that clear. I don’t know if it’s because I’m burnt out or because I’m 37,” she explained. “My mate the other day was like ‘Is there anyone who has done what you’ve done?’, and I was like ‘That’s the problem, in a way’. Everyone else did it in their 20s so there’s no blueprint. At 40 most women disappear, and I’m just getting started.”

Speaking to NME about her forthcoming third album in 2022, Taylor commented: “I’m still whinging about loads of other stuff. ‘Prioritise Pleasure’ was only the start of the penny dropping.

“I’m still this hyper-emotional person, I find it all a bit hard and that’s where I’ll always write from. You know how Ed Sheeran just sings about loving his girlfriend? One day I’ll just be able to do that. For now, I’ve just got to fight injustice at every corner. It’s difficult, but I’ll do it!”

‘Prioritise Pleasure’ went on to receive a Mercury Prize nomination in 2022 and charted at Number 11 on the UK Albums Chart. In a four-star review of the LP, NME shared: “Assured and unapologetic, it’s charged with a dark, smirking wit that’s impossible to turn away from, and achieves an incredibly impressive feat: not only does Self Esteem detail the fear, uneasiness and anger of being a woman – keys clutched between our fists – but also manages to make us laugh at the sheer absurdity of being forced to navigate a world that has, quite unbelievably, normalised misogyny.”

Following the release of ‘Prioritise Pleasure’, the singer went on to release the soundtrack to West End production Prima Facie. Directed by Justin Martin and starring Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer, Prima Facie is a one-person play that follows Comer as criminal defence barrister Tessa Ensler.

In 2023, Rebecca Lucy Taylor went on to perform the lead role of Sally Bowles in the West End production of Cabaret. She also teamed up with Moonchild Sanelly for the collaborative single, ‘Big Man’. Most recently, she teamed up with Tom Rasmussen on the collaborative track ‘Rescue Me’.
