‘True Electric’ – which is set for release on April 11 and is available for pre-order here – will mark the electronic duo’s first release of 2025. The LP is comprised of 19 studio versions of their 2023 ‘True Electric’ tour and includes the previously unreleased track ‘The R’ alongside newly reworked and remixes taken from their expansive catalogue.
The first taster of the album comes in the form of ‘What Else Is There’ featuring Fever Ray. The intense and pulsating track is a new take of their 2005 song of the same name from their album ‘The Understanding’.
Directed by Stian Andersen, the song’s accompanying video was recorded on location and features clips of the band’s 2023 True Electric gig in Athens, Greece.
Speaking about the album in a press release, Röyksopp, comprised of Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland, said: “‘True Electric’ consists of recordings and renditions, meant to capture the essence of our live shows bearing the same name. The idea was to put an emphasis on the clubbier aspects of our music, as well as returning to our roots within the realms of electronic music.”
Physical editions of ‘True Electric’ will be released on May 9. This will include a limited edition 3xLP vinyl pressing that includes a fold-out poster and a 2xCD with an eight-page booklet. The album was commissioned and designed by LA-based art director Christina Huang. It features features photography from Röyksopp’s Tflorencerue Electric tour by Stian Andersen and Suie Le.
