With her Bruno Mars collaboration “Die With a Smile” still sizzling on the charts, Lady Gaga has confirmed a March 7 release date for her seventh Interscope album, MAYHEM. The 14-track project includes that song as well as lead single “Disease,” which topped out at No. 27 on the Billboard Hot 100.
MAYHEM was executive produced by Gaga, Michael Polansky and Andrew Watt, with production by Gaga, Watt, Cirkut and Gesaffelstein. Interscope says the album “marks a triumphant return to Gaga’s pop roots” and “explores themes of chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke and heal.”

“The album started as me facing my fear of returning to the pop music my earliest fans loved,” Gaga revealed. She likens the creative process to “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
Beyond “Disease” opening the album and “Die With a Smile” as the closer, no further details have emerged about the track list or guest collaborators. An as-yet-unnamed third single and music video will premiere Feb. 2 during a commercial break at the Grammy Awards. Fans can pre-order the album in a variety of incarnations through Gaga’s newly relaunched web store.
Beforehand, Gaga is one of dozens of artists confirmed for the FireAid benefit on Jan. 30 at the Intuit Dome and Kia Forum in Los Angeles. She will also headline Coachella on April 11 and 18, with a longer tour expected later in the year.
MAYHEM is the proper follow-up to 2020’s Chromatica, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Since then, Gaga released her second collaborative album with the late Tony Bennett and last year brought forth both Harlequin and the Joker: Folie à Deux soundtrack in the wake of her starring role in the latter film of the same name.
