Laura Marling has announced a pair of Manchester shows, which will serve as her only live dates in 2025.
The singer-songwriter released her eighth studio album ‘Patterns In Repeat’ in October, including the singles ‘Patterns’, ‘No One’s Gonna Love You Like I Can’ and ‘Child Of Mine’.
Following the record’s release, Marling played a string of five shows at London’s Hackney Church and then four nights in New York’s Bowery Ballroom.
Now, she has announced a one-off pair of shows at Manchester’s Albert Hall, to take place on March 5 and 6. Tickets for the shows go on sale on Tuesday (February 4) and you will be able to get yours here.
“So happy to be announcing these two final shows in support of Patterns in Repeat,” Marling wrote on Instagram to announce the shows. “I had an amazing time playing this album with such incredible musicians in London and NYC – I wanted to get in one more run before I bow out again. I won’t be playing live again for a year or two so, hope to see you at Manchester Albert Hall, one of my favourite venues. Tickets on sale Tuesday at 10am.”
The Albert Hall shows will also see Marling joined by a live string section on stage to bring the lush tracks of ‘Patterns In Repeat’ to life.
Marling wrote, recorded and produced the album herself at her home studio in London, shortly after the birth of her daughter in 2023. “For the first time in my life, I was able to gaze into another human’s eyes as I wrote,” she said about the writing process. “Of course, new parents feel like they discovered that feeling – one of the very finest that life has to offer, of looking into the eyes of your child and feeling the enormity of the picture as a whole, the enormity of a precarious life, celestial, fragile and extraordinary, taking its place among the comparatively banal constellation of a family.”
She continued: “This banal constellation seems to have dominated the writing of ‘Patterns in Repeat’ – the drama of the domestic sphere, the frail threads that bind a family together, the good intentions we hold onto for our progeny and the many and various ways they get lost in time. So much complexity in the banal, the caged, the every day.”
