Neil Young has shared a promising new update on The Chrome Hearts’ debut album – see what the folk icon had to say below.
Last month (January 17), Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts shared the single, ‘Big Change Is Coming’. It marked their first release from the band that sees Young playing alongside Micah Nelson on guitar, Corey McCormick on bass, Anthony Logerfo on drums and Spooner Oldham on Farfisa organ.
Now, Young has taken to his blog, the Neil Young Archives, to provide fans with a positive update on the band’s upcoming releases. Writing on Tuesday (February 4), Young shared that he had finished recording their debut album with producers Lou Adler (who is also his brother-in-law) and John Hanlon at Rick Rubin‘s Shangri-La studio in Malibu.

Young wrote: “It is in mastering now to make the vinyl, CD and digital copies. I am very happy and relieved to have this done in the short time it took. The album art has been completed and handed in with Jenice Heo. I am working on the lyric sheets now, hoping to hand-write the words and get them in, in time…”
The legendary musician continued: “It is a happy feeling I have today, knowing I have made an album I think people will enjoy. I hope it’s out in April. That would be pretty fast. Playing with the Chrome Hearts was a joy as we recorded song after song at Shangrila in Malibu. I wrote these songs in November and December.”
Neil then shared that he hopes to bring these songs on the road with him soon: “They feel fresh to me and I am very happy to have this all ready for you. It won’t be long now and it will be great to have new songs to play on the road this summer in Europe, the USA and Canada. We are looking forward to that!”
Exact dates for The Chrome Hearts’ European tour have yet to be announced, as Young wrote on his blog in November that they were under review: “The tour submitted did not stay within the requested venues and is being re-done to omit any indoor shows. Indoor shows may be too risky on a health level and we don’t want to have to cancel any shows because of health concerns this coming summer”.

One date that has been confirmed is Neil Young and The Chrome Hearts’ Glastonbury headlining slot in June.
The singer announced that he had been booked for the festival earlier this year, but was backing out as he felt like it was “a corporate turn-off”. Just days after making the post, he shared another update saying that he had overturned his decision and would in fact be appearing at the 2025 instalment as one of the three headliners.
So far, the only other confirmed artist is Rod Stewart, who will play the coveted Sunday afternoon Legends Slot, although Nile Rodgers & Chic are also known to be performing at Glastonbury 2025. This comes as the singer shared by accident that they would also be returning to the Worthy Farm site while accepting an award last year.

Other rumoured headliners include Olivia Rodrigo, Sam Fender, The 1975, Taylor Swift and Stevie Wonder. The full line-up for the festival is usually shared in March.
As for other Neil Young news, the folk icon recently announced that he is set to release his “lost” album ‘Oceanside Countryside’ from the ‘70s, and shared his praise for the “great” new Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown.
