
* After scrapping a tour with Crazy Horse last year, Neil Young is returning to the road this summer with the Chrome Hearts for a two-leg visit to Europe and North America. Dates begin June 18 in Rättvik, Sweden, and will pick up across the Atlantic on Aug. 8 in Charlotte, N.C. Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Feb. 25).
Young will be backed by Spooner Oldham (Farfisa organ), Micah Nelson (guitar and vocal), Corey McCormick (bass and vocal) and Anthony LoGerfo (drums). The group recently released the single “big change.”

In tandem with the Young-co-founded Farm Aid, the shows will offer HOMEGROWN Concessions, which will bring sustainably produced, family farm food to each venue.
* Pantera will follow their spring/summer support slot on Metallica‘s North American stadium tour with a headlining run of their own, kicking off July 15 outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. Amon Amarth will open.
The reunited hard rock outfit, which finds core members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown flanked by guitarist Zakk Wylde and drummer Charlie Benante, is also on board for the July 4-5 blowout in Birmingham, England, in celebration of Black Sabbath‘s final performance.
* R.E.M.‘s Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey made surprise appearances Feb. 22 at the Portland, Ore., stop on Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy‘s tour covering R.E.M.’s Fables of the Reconstruction album. Buck was present for most of the second set, which included a cover of Pylon‘s “Crazy” plus R.E.M. tunes “Letter Never Sent,” “Sitting Still” and “Pretty Persuasion,” while McCaughey joined the fun on “Cuyahoga,” “So. Central Rain” and “7 Chinese Brothers.”
Last year, Buck and R.E.M. former bandmates Mike Mills and Bill Berry took the stage with Shannon and Narducy in R.E.M.’s Athens, Ga., home base. Frontman Michael Stipe was also on hand, but did not sing.
* British rock veterans Elbow will visit North America this fall for their first tour in the region since 2020, beginning Sept. 26 in Washington, D.C. The group’s new single, “Adriana Again,” is out now and follow’s the release last year of their latest album, Audio Vertigo. Elbow is also working on new music to be chronicled on another EP later this year.
