
Shrek is making a comeback — and fans will hear a new voice in the swamp.
Universal Pictures released a new teaser clip for Shrek 5 on Thursday, February 27, revealing that Zendaya will join the star-studded cast. Cameron Diaz, Mike Myers, and Eddie Murphy will reprise their iconic roles.

In the 28-second teaser, Donkey (voiced by Eddie Murphy) asks the magic mirror who the fairest of them all is. Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) and Fiona (voiced by Cameron Diaz), along with Zendaya’s character — revealed to be their daughter — watch the interaction. Pinocchio (voiced by Cody Cameron) also makes a quick appearance.
Zendaya, 28, may have predicted her role in August 2017 when she tweeted, “I watch Shrek too often in my adulthood.”
The official Shrek Instagram account reposted the tweet after the trailer dropped, captioning it, “This aged well.”
The original Shrek was released in 2001 and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
The franchise continued with Shrek 2 in 2004, Shrek the Third in 2007 and Shrek Forever After in 2010.
Antonio Banderas’ character, Puss in Boots, also received two spin-offs: Puss in Boots in 2011 and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in 2022.
Shrek 5 is will be released in time for Christmas 2026.
