Living next to an NFL superstar comes with perks — like knowing things before the rest of the world does. Just ask Wes Bergmann.

During the Wednesday, February 5 episode of The Social Game, the 41-year-old reality TV alum — who lives in the same “gated community” as Travis Kelce — claimed he knew the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Taylor Swift were already an item long before fans caught on.

More from Spin:

“I was like the first person to know about any of this stuff,” Bergmann told hosts Michele Fitzgerald and Kellie Nalbandian. “I tried to tell this woman [pointing to Fitzgerald] a long time ago, ‘They’re together, just so you know,’ and she didn’t believe it.”

According to Bergmann, the 34-year-old Survivor winner brushed off the claim, convinced Swift, 35, only dated “brooding artists.” But he insisted he had it right. “I beat the validating, like of her showing up to games and stuff by like six months,” he said.

The former Challenge star also described Kelce, 35, as “an enigma,” adding, “On one hand, he’s like this big, tough football player. On the other, he’s going to have about 12 Taylor Swift songs written about him.”

However, after the interview picked up traction, Bergmann backtracked. On Tuesday, March 4, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his comments.

“Omg y’all I’m so sorry and confused,” he wrote. “Everything being reported on is none of my business. My contribution to this was taken out of context and said in what I thought was relative obscurity, but it obviously wasn’t. He moved in November, that’s all I know. I told Michele, who is a giant fan, hey this is serious. She didn’t believe me for six months. That was the intention of the comment. Again it was taken out of context but I shouldn’t be talking about it anyway. So consider this the last time I do.”

Kelce and Swift first sparked dating rumors in September 2023, but according to the “Look What You Made Me Do” hitmaker, they had already been together for a while by then. “We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for,” Swift told TIME in December 2023. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
