Following the announcement that The 1975 are set to headline Glastonbury 2025, fans have been busy speculating over a “new era” for the band.

The four-piece are set to headline the Pyramid Stage in June, sitting at the top of the bill alongside Olivia Rodrigo and Neil Young.
After the band’s last global tour, which ended in March 2024, they went on an “indefinite hiatus” – Glastonbury is the first and so far only live show they’ve announced since then.
As well as the Glastonbury announcement being made today (March 6) the band have changed their logo and updated their social media profiles with it, leading fans to suggest that they’re entering a “new era” this year. The news has been eagerly welcomed, with one fan writing on X (formerly Twitter), “New The 1975 era…. life is worth living maybe.”

“Just to celebrate the new live album? Or are we getting new music?” asked one fan on The 1975’s subreddit, while another predicted, “New song June 1st and then Glasto and then GHEMB in last quarter 2025,” with a lot of fans thinking that ‘GHEMB’ could be the name of their next album.
The new logo is a marked departure from the one used in the promotion for their last album, 2022’s ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language‘, and has a thin, serifed style – leading one person to quip on X, “What in the Times New Roman is this shit?”
The font choice certainly seems to have divided opinion, with one fan on Reddit saying, “I like this font way more than the previous one. Nice, simple and elegant. Feels like reading words from a book,” but another opining, “They need to hire [a] graphic designer.”

Recently, they’ve shared photos from the studio of them working on a follow-up to ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, while some fans think that frontman Matty Healy shared a working tracklist for their as-yet-untitled sixth album in November. There are also rumours that a song about his past relationship with Taylor Swift has made the cut.
Meanwhile, Glastonbury is set to run from June 25 to 29 this year at its usual home of Worthy Farm in Somerset. As well as Young and Rodrigo, the band will be joined by the likes of Charli XCX, Alanis Morissette, Biffy Clyro, Raye and The Prodigy at the iconic festival.
The 1975 first played Glastonbury in 2014, but this will be their first time headlining. They most recently played the festival in 2016, nine years ago, when they appeared on the Other Stage.
In other 1975 news, the group were recently cleared of liability for the fall-out after Healy and bassist Ross MacDonald kissed on stage at the Good Vibes festival in Malaysia in protest over the country’s anti-LGBTQ+ laws.
