blackpink jennie legacy interview believe cultural move solo album

BLACKPINK singer Jennie has shared her thoughts on the K-pop girl group’s legacy, saying she “really believe[s] we’re making a cultural move with what we’re doing”.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie was recently interviewed by Zane Lowe for Apple Music in support of her upcoming debut solo album ‘Ruby’. During the chat, the K-pop star shared her thoughts on BLACKPINK’s legacy, saying that “the responsibility is definitely there inside of me, and all of us”.

“It’s not just the next comeback of music for us, we really believe we’re making a cultural move with what we’re doing,” she shared. “We wanna leave a great mark for the history in the best way possible. It was important for all of us to understand the responsibility, I think.”

Jennie also added that the “responsibility” the group feels has gotten greater now that they have branched out on their own and are about to reunite to make music and tour together again later this year.

“It’s a lot to be separated and then come back as a group and to even agree on something like that is, and I don’t know if people understand, a very big decision to make for [any] woman,” she said. “We pulled through and I’m excited for what’s next for BLACKPINK too.”

Due out March 7, ‘Ruby’ will mark Jennie’s first solo record. The album will feature appearances from Childish Gambino, Dua Lipa, FKJ, Kali Uchis and more. The BLACKPINK singer has already dropped four singles: ‘ExtraL’ with Doechii‘Mantra’‘Zen’ and ‘Love Hangover’ featuring Dominic Fike.
