Lady Gaga is joining the ghoulish world of Wednesday for its second season, and the Netflix series’ star Jenna Ortega opened up about working with Mother Monster.

“I love working with Gaga,” she told Access Hollywood at SXSW on Monday (March 10). “I’ve had the pleasure of seeing her a couple of times now, and she has only ever been unbelievably sweet and just precious.”

The actress continued, “It’s insane to see someone with such a bold persona and just bursting with this incredible, unachievable talent for most — but also be able to hear them say ‘Cut,’ Tim Burton saying ‘Cut,’ and having a normal conversation [with her] about what you had for breakfast. It’s super strange and I’m incredibly grateful.”

Details regarding Gaga’s role are still unknown, but the superstar joined the cast two years after her song “Bloody Mary” made its way to a viral TikTok trend surrounding the first season of the hit Addams Family-inspired show.

When the scene of Ortega — who plays the titular role of Wednesday Addams — dancing to The Cramps’ 1981 single “Goo Goo Muck” went viral, fans began editing the sequence to the Born This Way deep cut. The edits sparked a broader trend on TikTok of users re-creating the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice star’s choreography, which the Oscar winner herself tried out that December.

Ortega previously addressed the possibility of Gaga joining the cast back in 2023. “I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega said on the Golden Globes red carpet. “If Lady Gaga were to be a part, [she and Wednesday] would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”

Wednesday season two is set to premiere sometime this year.
