Miley Cyrus picked up her first pair of Grammy Awards on Sunday, but perhaps a backstage moment was her favorite of the night when Flavor Flav finally got her name right.
Footage captured Cyrus walking backstage at Crypto.com Arena as the Public Enemy rapper continuously shouted, “Miley!”
Flav got the “Flowers” singer’s attention and she was ecstatic that she was being called by her name rather than Gwen Stefani’s, whom Flav typically mixed her up with.
“You know it’s me?! I made it,” Cyrus replied in shock. “You don’t think I’m Gwen Stefani anymore? You used to call me ‘Gwen’ every time I saw you!”
“I know,” he admitted as the two went on to snap a few photos together. Miley added: “You know what time it is!”
Flavor Flav had some fun with the heartfelt exchange when jokingly referring to Cyrus as the “Hollaback Girl” artist on X.
“My girl Gwen Stefani,,, I mean MILEY CYRUS … Give My Girl her FLOWERS,” he captioned the clip.
It was a show-stealing night for Cyrus, as the 31-year-old won her first Grammy in the best pop solo performance category thanks to “Flowers” before the eight-week Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 anthem invaded the Big Four and took home record of the year.
“This MC is going to stand by this MC, because this is just too iconic,” Cyrus said after being presented with the best pop solo performance Grammy by none other than Mariah Carey. “I was stuck in the rain in traffic and I thought I was going to miss this moment, and I could have missed this award, that’s fine — but not Mariah Carey.”
The former Hannah Montana star hit the stage to deliver a thrilling rendition of her “Flowers” anthem, which included the ad lib “Started to cry but then remembered I… I just won my first Grammy!”
