Back to velour! Juicy Couture is making a comeback.

If you were around during the early millennium, then you’re probably already familiar with the Juicy Couture tracksuit’s first run. From Beyoncé to Jessica Simpson, it seems like every star had at least one velour tracksuit on deck, and for celebs like Paris Hilton, Juicy Couture became a lifestyle.

In fact, Hilton still loves wearing comfy tracksuits and she’s not alone, Mel B was spotted wearing a Juicy Couture tracksuit last year.

Despite ruling over much of the early millennium, by around 2014, the velour tracksuit fell out of the style spotlight. With help from TikTok, Juicy Couture’s legendary tracksuit is officially hot again and Gen Z rap girlies like Sexyy Red and Latto have rocked the trend.

But Juicy Couture didn’t start with athleisure wear. The LA lifestyle brand, founded by best friends Gela Nash and Pamela Skaist-Levy in the 1997, was initially created for maternity wear under the name Travis Jeans before changing its name.

The focus of Juicy Couture was “casual luxury,” according to the founders. “Really amazing clothes that you could wear every day,” Skaist-Levi said in a 2015 interview alongside Nash. “First we designed a sexy V-neck T-shirt and that really took off, so we made it in 26 different colors. We manufactured everything in Los Angeles, which was a big part of our success. It turned out to be very profitable because LA was our backyard.”

How did the Juicy Couture’s tracksuit become so popular? We can thank Madonna for debuting a custom Juicy Couture tracksuit back in 2001. After the Material Girl wore it out, the tracksuit started popping up everywhere with celebs like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez sporting velour.

Besides tracksuits, Juicy Couture designs dresses, jumpsuits, swimwear, jewelry, purses and more.
