Jennifer Lopez is ready for the Met Gala.
The superstar and this year’s event co-chair stopped by Good Morning America on Monday morning (May 6), just hours before the prestigious red carpet at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, to preview what fans can expect from her look. “You’ll have to tune in to see,” she teased coyly. “But it’s exciting, it’s exciting. It’s a fun night for fashion.”
When asked if she’ll be “able to walk” in her outfit, the “Waiting For Tonight” singer responded, “Barely, ever. The Met Gala looks are not about comfort.”
Lopez will be co-hosting the event alongside Bad Bunny, Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth and, as usual, Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. “I was really honored to be asked to host it alongside Zendaya and Bad Bunny and Chris Hemsworth,” Lopez said. “Anna was gracious enough to ask me. We’re going to have a good time.”
This year’s theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, is set to feature 250 items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection, according to an Instagram post announcing the theme back in November. “From a 17th century English Elizabethan-era bodice and Christian Dior’s famous Junon and Venus ballgowns, to 21st century acquisitions by designers including Phillip Lim, Stella McCartney, and Conner Ives, the core exhibit will span 400 years of history,” the caption reads. Additionally, the event’s dress code is “The Garden of Time,” inspired by a 1962 J.G. Ballard short story of the same name.
