The Nirvana bassist’s new band – which also includes Screaming Trees’ Mark Pickerel, as well as Jillian Raye, Jennifer Johnson and Kathy Moore – played at the annual Make Music Day in Aberdeen, Washington on Friday (June 21).
Among the setlist was ‘Love Buzz’, the song first written and recorded by Dutch band Shocking Blue in 1969 and later covered by Nirvana and released as their debut single on Sub Pop Records in 1988.

Last year, Novoselic told NME about the chances of a reunion from the surviving Nirvana members in the future.
“I’d like to,” he said. “There was a time after Kurt died when I said to myself, ‘I’m never going to play these songs again’. That was part of the grief I went through. We don’t want to overdo it, we try to make it special and be grateful.
“When the opportunity comes, we do it if it feels right. In the meantime, we just remember Kurt and do our thing.”
Asked if they would ever record new music, he replied: “Yeah, we actually have some material. Dave already spilled the beans on that. I’m going to bug Dave about that! ‘Hey, what about those jams we did? What do you want to do with those?’ Thank you for reminding me!”

He also spoke in that interview about his enthusiasm for the use of AI in bringing deceased musicians into new recordings, referencing The Beatles’ ‘Now And Then’.
“I can hardly wait to hear a new Beatles song,” he said at the time. “Come on, it’s The Beatles! I want to hear a new Beatles song! And if AI helps it, then absolutely – that’s the way it is today.”
He did go on to make clear that any use of Cobain and AI would have to be undertaken with care. “Kurt’s not here in the present, so everything has got to be done right,” he added.
