Today (July 8) at Midnight KST, SISTAR’s Hyolyn release a couple of concept photos for her upcoming summer single, ‘Wait’. The images feature the singer posing in front of a waterfall with a flower in her hair. ‘Wait’ arrives on July 12 at 6pm KST.
‘Wait’ will be Hyolyn’s first solo release in a year, following her July 2023 single ‘This Love’ featuring rapper Paul Blanco. Prior to this, the singer released her third mini-album ‘Ice’ and its lead single ‘No Thanks’ in July 2022.
Back in January, Hyolyn and SISTAR bandmate Bora reunited as SISTAR19 with a new single album called ‘No More (Ma Boy)’. It marked their first release in 11 years, after their 2013 mini-album ‘Gone Not Around Any Longer’.
In an interview with NME, the duo expressed their desire for SISTAR to return, but explained that it would be “challenging” to do so as they were all under different agencies. “It’ll be even harder gathering four agencies together [laughs], but we’re up for the challenge,” said Hyolyn.
SISTAR – formed by Hyolyn, Bora, Soyou and Dasom – debuted in 2010 with the song ‘Push Push’. The quartet went on to release hits like ‘Give It To Me’, ‘Touch My Body’ and ‘Shake It’, becoming one of the most successful second-generation girl groups.
In May 2017, their agency Starship Entertainment announced that the group would disband following the release of their final single ‘Lonely’. The group went on several Korean music shows to perform their hits as a farewell to fans.
The girl group reunited in 2022 on the final episode of live music show You Heeyeol’s Sketchbook in support of Hyolyn’s comeback with ‘Ice’.
