My Chemical Romance have sparked rumours of a reunion after a series of strange Facebook posts.

The emo titans first triggered speculation when they changed their profile picture on their Facebook, causing fans to believe they had an announcement prepared.

The band then continued to post a number of bizarre Facebook posts, which have confused fans as to whether it’s spam – or part of a cryptic statement. None of their other social media accounts have shared the posts. NME have approached their representatives for comment.

One news story pointed to country singer Keith Urban‘s supposed prostate cancer, whilst another grieved the loss of Corey Comperatore, who was killed at the rally where former President Donald Trump suffered an attempted assassination. Another claimed that US TV show host Greg Gutfield managed to “outshine” The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert – you can see some screenshots of the articles below.

The news stories have left fans confused, with one writing: “What if this is some sort of publicity stunt for an upcoming album?”, and another jokingly speculating the band were “secretly releasing each individual track title with these posts”. Meanwhile, under their profile picture change, another wrote: “Tour? Album? New single? What are we doing here?”

The band’s last post was in November last year to promote their slot at When We Were Young Festival, which is due to take place October 19 this year in Las Vegas.

My Chemical Romance previously stoked rumours that the band were reuniting last year thanks to a since-deleted post from an associate of the band.

The post from account @bigwormser showed a photograph of an acoustic guitar alongside a framed print bearing the slogan ‘I’m Not OK’. Attached to it was a post-it note, reading: “5OON”.

However, the account later claimed he was “trolling”.

My Chemical Romance wrapped up their lengthy reunion tour in March this year. The band’s first show back together was in December 2019, and their COVID-delayed world tour began with two shows at The Eden Project in Cornwall last summer.

The band’s most recent material was 2022’s ‘The Foundations of Decay’ – a surprise single that was their first new release in eight years. Their last full-length album was 2010’s ‘Danger Days’.

They originally split in 2013, with frontman Gerard Way telling Zane Lowe at the time that “it was time”: “I think because it was so special and it was such an amazing thing… to keep going and let it rust out on the rails? That was not the way that band was supposed to go out.”

He added that everyone in the band was “pretty upset” about the split. “I think we’re all pretty upset,” Way continued. “It wasn’t an easy thing to come to. It was sad, because it wasn’t a situation where anybody hated each other. It was nobody’s fault.”
