Boldy James and The Alchemist go together like peanut butter and jelly, like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, like a Backwood and an eighth.
Earlier today, they let go of a warm-up loosie that hopefully leads to another full project from Rap Game Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars. “Ten Pints” shows off their undeniable chemistry and the Dexstr8dope-directed video features Boldy rippin’ and runnin’ over some smooth Uncle Al production.
Lines like, “Black Sicilian, stack a half a million of them Chia Pets/Real smooth and mellow, love my b—ch ghetto as Mia X/Stitched and knitted with the Chemist, tailor made, tailor fitted/Meal preppin’, spinned the work up made it do a pirouette,” cements the Detroit rappers banner year as he has already dropped two critically-acclaimed albums in Penalty of Leadership with producer Nicholas Craven and Across the Tracks with Griselda producer Conductor Williams.
Boldy and Alchemist have worked extensively together over the years dating back to 2013’s My 1st Chemistry Set. Since then they’ve released three albums and an EP. They dropped the five-song Boldface EP in 2019, The Price of Tea in China the next year in 2020, and Bo Jackson and Super Tecmo Bo in 2021.
Other than maybe Hit-Boy and Nas, there really isn’t another rapper/producer duo that’s providing fans with this type of consistent quality. It’s been three years since their last project, so they’re due for another.
Also, I think we should mention that his son Bo Jack is Boldy’s hypeman and he’s featured prominently in the video and even spit a verse on “All Madden” off that Conductor tape.
