The musician and DJ has dropped the next track from his forthcoming album, ‘What’s Wrong With New York’ (out September 6 via Republic Records). So far, he’s shared ‘Perfume’ earlier in June and debut single ‘Girls’ back in August 2022.
Now, The Dare (real name Harrison Smith) has released ‘You’re Invited’, which combines a funky bassline with classic noughties ‘ooohs’ to conjure the ultimate RSVP.
Take a look at ‘You’re Invited’ down below:
The Dare’s debut album has been written by Smith, as well as Dylan Brady (100 Gecs), Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, FKA twigs, Dua Lipa), Chris Greatti (Yves Tumor, Yeule) and more.
It follows a huge year for the musician, in which he helped produce Charli xcx’s ‘Guess’ (and its remix with Billie Eilish). The Dare also appeared in its music video, of which Charli and Billie donated the 10,000 pairs of pants that featured.
In our feature exploring the essential artists reinvigorating the NYC music scene, NME wrote of The Dare: “The reckless and clattering ‘Girls’, the debut single from The Dare’s Harrison Patrick Smith, shamelessly extols the joys of late night misadventures, whilst recalling the ghosts of early LCD Soundsystem and bloghouse through electroclash sounds and yelped vocals.
“A resident DJ at Home Sweet Home, Smith has roots in the city’s nightlife scene, and is finding joy in hanging out, building a community and straight up vibing.”
