It was revealed that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross would be responsible for the sound during Friday night’s (August 9) presentation at D23, with their involvement announced with a bright red laser burning their name onto an LED screen.
Their official X/Twitter account followed suit, with the same clip showing underneath the caption: “You’re going to get what you deserve. 10.10.25,” referencing the theatrical release, which is scheduled for October 10, 2025.

Ross and Reznor have ample experience in scoring films, having worked on The Social Network, Soul, Challengers and more. They follow Daft Punk, who worked on 2010’s Tron: Legacy score, which went on to become one of the most celebrated elements of the film.
However, the French duo’s break-up in 2021 ruled them out of working on the next edition. While it left fans unsure if the next film would have the same audio identity, the news that Nine Inch Nails were charged with it came as a relief.
“I wasn’t sure how Disney would fill the gap left by Daft Punk. The music of “Tron: Legacy” is a HUGE part of what makes the film work,” wrote one fan on social media. “Getting Nine Inch Nails on this is a MASTERFUL choice!” Others added that it was a “perfect fit”, and celebrated that Disney “actually DID manage to find a worthy replacement for Daft Punk”.
In other Nails Inch Nails news, the industrial rock icons recently teamed up with Dr. Martens on the collaboration of ‘The Downward Spiral’ 30th Anniversary boot collection, and had their track ‘Hurt’ covered by 14-year-old drumming prodigy Nandi Bushell, in a delicate piano-led version.
