Radiohead may not have released an album in more than eight years, but principal members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood continue their hot streak with their other band the Smile, whose second LP of 2024, Cutouts, will be out Oct. 4 from XL.

Two songs from it, “Foreign Spies” and “Zero Sum,” are available now, along with a futuristic, Weirdcore-directed video for the latter. They follow the release earlier this month of “Don’t Get Me Started” and “The Slip” on a limited-edition 12-inch vinyl single.

Thom Yorke Plots ‘New Kind Of Solo Show’ This Fall

Yorke, Greenwood and drummer Tom Skinner recorded Cutouts in Oxford, England, and at London’s Abbey Road Studios at the same time as Wall of Eyes, which was released in January. It was produced by Sam Petts-Davies and features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra. Yorke and longtime visual collaborator Stanley Donwood pained the album cover during the recording process.

At the moment, the Smile have no touring plans on their agenda after having to cancel summer dates when Greenwood “became seriously ill from an infection that needed emergency hospital treatment, some of it in intensive care.” He has since recovered.

As previously reported, Yorke “will be alone on stage trying a new kind of solo show thing, playing versions of songs from my recent and not-so-recent past” at 15 concerts in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Japan beginning Oct. 12.
