Warmduscher have shared a new single featuring Confidence Man‘s Janet Planet – listen to ‘Pure At The Heart’ below.
The collaborative song is the latest preview of the London post-punk band’s fifth studio album ‘Too Cold To Hold’, which will be released on November 15 (pre-order/pre-save here).
“‘Pure At The Heart’ was an idea I’ve had knocking around for years. I wanted to make something with emotional weight but sparkly and fun,” explained Warmduscher’s Ben Romans-Hopcraft.
As for how the team-up with the Confidence Man singer came about, he recalled: “I was at a party with Janet Planet and played it to her, she immediately started jumping around and singing the bridge melody that is on the track which reinvigorated the song and [lead singer] Clams [Baker Jr.] created the lyrical concept that offset the sweetness of the music.”
Baker Jr. added: “[‘Pure At The Heart’ is] a nod to being one of the few left on the floor when the lights come on and the club closes, and to the adventures to come with the stranger you just met there.”
The single arrives with an official music video, helmed by director/cinematographer duo Brandon Young & Harvey Wells (aka Godfearing).
“Three days prep. One day shoot,” they explained of the filming process. “We didn’t have long to pull this off but we think it’s a great success. The last time we had four days to pull something off Harvey got friction burn.”
‘Pure At The Heart’ follows on from Warmduscher’s previous tracks ‘Staying Alive’ and ‘Fashion Week’ in previewing ‘Too Cold To Hold’. The forthcoming record will also contain collaborations with Lianne La Havas, Coucou Chloe and more.
Warmduscher are set to embark on a UK/Ireland and European headline tour next month. Find any remaining tickets and see the full schedule here.
Meanwhile, Confidence Man are gearing up to release their new album ‘3AM (LA LA LA)’ on October 18. The duo released their latest single ‘So What’ last month.
Speaking to NME about the project at Glastonbury 2024, Planet explained: “We set out to write this record where we were like, ‘We’ve figured out the best way for us to write music together is to be completely cooked’.
“So what we did with this record was: ‘No writing at all sober’. Only wasted. So we’d go to Café Cecilia, near our studio, get absolutely wasted, then we’d go to our studio in London fields from 4pm ‘til 10am. And that was the only way we wrote the record.”
