The track will feature on the Irish artist’s – real name Jessica Smyth – forthcoming as-yet-untitled debut album and follows her 2023 mixtape ‘Bubblegum’.
Speaking about the track via a press release, she said it was “about the after effects of a big night out”.
She added: “‘4AM’ is a nostalgic feeling track that’s heavy: the verses are a reflection on the past and someone’s relationships with self, substances or partners. Starting with the lyrics ‘Oh you could have hit me with the bad news first’ is important as it cuts straight to the real feeling of it, and cuts out the glitz and glamour of a situation.”
‘4AM’ has also arrived accompanied by the first episode in a series of short films written by Biig Piig to go alongside her forthcoming LP. You can watch the video below.
‘Bubblegum’ was awarded four stars by NME and it was described “as the start of an electric new era.”
The review added: “By tying together contrasting sounds and stories into this brilliant collection, Biig Piig embraces the joy of reinvention.”
Earlier this year, she held a gig in London in aid of victims of the conflict in Gaza.
She said at the time: “The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is one of the most horrific I’ve seen in my lifetime. There have been so many lives destroyed and dreams taken from innocent people.
“I wanted to hold an event to support the people that have been affected and to spread awareness [of] what’s happening in real-time.”
