Selena Gomez has always been humble despite her constantly growing success.
The star opened up about her recent billionaire status on Monday (Sept. 30) at the premiere of her new film, Emilia Pérez, at the New York Film Festival. “I’m very grateful,” Gomez told Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet. “I personally think it’s distasteful to talk about money, but I really am giving all the credit to people who buy the products.”
She continued, “They’re the ones that made this dream of mine come true, so I’m really, really honored and just happy.”
According to a report from Bloomberg published Friday (Sept. 6), Gomez now has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion, attributing the “vast bulk” of her wealth to the success of her popular Rare Beauty cosmetics business, which she launched in 2019. Other ventures making up her reported 10-figure bank account are the multi-hyphenate’s music catalog and acting roles, as well as her real-estate portfolio and brand partnerships. Gomez also has earnings from her investments, including her stake in her mental health platform Wondermind, which she founded in 2022 with her mom, Mandy Teefey, and entrepreneur Daniella Pierson.
Gomez is now one of a handful of musicians to become a billionaire, joining close friend Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Ye and Bruce Springsteen.
