Up until now, only one artist had been confirmed for next year’s edition of the festival: Rod Stewart. He was announced for next year’s Legend Slot earlier this week (November 26), a performance that will follow on from his previous headline appearance in 2002, alongside Coldplay and Stereophonics.

Usually, the first line-up poster for Glastonbury is unveiled in early March, meaning no further artists are confirmed for roughly four months. However, Nile Rodgers has accidentally confirmed that he will be joining the bill for 2025.

Taking to the stage at London’s Roundhouse for last night’s Rolling Stone Awards, the musician accepted the award for Music Icon and let slip that he was already preparing to get up to some havoc with Stewart at the Worthy Farm site.

“We’re going to have a blast because we follow him directly,’ he joked (via Metro). “Rod and I have been friends for 80 gazillion years, so that means he’s gonna play tricks on me… He’s probably gonna pinch my bum, because he always does that. I don’t know what the hell he gets out of that.”

He continued: “We’re gonna have a great time together. I don’t know who’s in his current band, but we’ll probably be jamming. Regardless of what the world may think, Rod Stewart and I, we really love each other. We really are quite close.”

Rodgers was soon notified by someone that his appearance hadn’t been announced, to which he laughed and responded: “Am I not supposed to give that away? I always say too much.”

While news of Chic’s appearance at Glasto 2025 hasn’t been officially confirmed by anyone else, it is safe to assume that Nile Rodgers and co. will be appearing on the first official line-up post when it drops in the new year.

The 2025 event won’t mark his first time at the iconic festival, as he also took to the site to perform at the 2017 instalment. Then, he also took on a Sunday performance at the main Pyramid stage – just after Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb performed in the Legend’s slot.

Before then, Chic performed a set at the West Holts stage in 2013.

Since the official announcement that he will be taking on the 2025 Legends Slot – following in the footsteps of  Shania Twain, Yusuf / Cat Stevens, Diana Ross, Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton and more – Rod Stewart has gone on to admit that the prestigious Sunday set will set him back him roughly £300,000.

There is currently huge speculation about which artists could be confirmed as headliners for the 2025 event – which will be the last before Glasto takes a year out in 2026. The main rumours include Sam Fender, Green Day, Olivia Rodrigo and Lady Gaga, while there has been speculation around a potential set from Alanis Morissette too.

The first batch of general admission tickets for Glastonbury 2025 sold out in just 35 minutes on November 15, following a sale of coach/ticket packages three days prior. This year, organisers introduced a new online queuing system to purchase tickets – which divided customers.

A resale of any returned tickets will take place in the spring.
