The live collaboration took place during Clairo’s set at the Melbourne edition of Laneway Festival 2025 today (February 14). Both artists appear on the line-up for this year’s event – which is also visiting Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth.
Charli shared a TikTok of her and Clairo hanging out with Beabadoobee backstage too, captioning it: “My valentines xx.”
The joint rendition of ‘Sofia’ served as the closer of Clairo’s 13-track Laneway show, according to Setlist.FM. It also marked the first appearance of the song on her setlist since 2022.
Dancing together onstage, Clairo and Charli called on the crowd to “sing it to us”. Watch the fan-shot videos of the moment here:

Clairo features on Charli’s 2019 track ‘February 2017’ along with Yaeji. Last summer, Clairo praised Charli’s “unreal” ‘Girl, So Confusing’ remix with Lorde.
“I love that song,” she explained. “I mean, they’re both geniuses to me. Charli has been someone I’ve looked up to forever, and [the] same thing with Lorde.
“I just couldn’t appreciate what they’re doing more. It’s really cool and extremely necessary, and I think there was a gap that needed to be filled. I’ve needed someone to say these things to me or remind me of how tricky dynamics can be within female friendships.”
‘Sofia’ appears on Clairo’s 2019 debut studio record ‘Immunity’. In a five-star review of the LP, NME called the track “one of the most infectious and lively songs on the album” that “bounces on a Strokes-y staccato strum and Danielle Haim’s punchy drum beats”.

It continued: “It’s already a celebratory moment but it becomes dizzyingly so when a thick layer of distortion fuses its layers together midway through. “I don’t want to say goodbye / I think we could do it if we tried,” the 20-year-old sings as the noise subsides, confidently addressing her first female crushes like Sofia Coppola and Sofia Vergara.
In 2022, The Strokes jammed out a version of ‘Sofia’ at NOS Alive in Lisbon. The track is said to have been inspired by the NYC band and has been likened to their music on numerous occasions.
Meanwhile, Charli won three awards at the Grammys 2025 earlier this month: Best Dance Pop Recording (‘Von Dutch’), Best Dance/Electronic Album (‘Brat’) and Best Recording Package (‘Brat’).
She is up for five prizes at next month’s BRIT Awards 2025 including Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year (‘Brat’).
Despite the huge success of Charli’s latest album, the pop star’s producers have revealed that her next full-length effort is currently leaning towards being “anti-Brat”.
