Shirley Manson‘s iconic polka dot dress from Garbage‘s ‘I Think I’m Paranoid’ video has been sold for $31,000.

The dress was featured as part of a fundraising auction hosted by the nonprofit organization Give A Fuck Los Angeles and Julien’s Auctions with all proceeds made going towards helping those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires, which began on January 7.

Other items available included Paramore‘s Hayley Williams ‘This Is Why’ video and stage ensembles from the band’s opening slot on Taylor Swift‘s ‘Eras’ tour, Chappell Roan‘s iconic ‘Hot To Go’ music video and stage outfit and a signed Dave Grohl Epiphone DG-335 signature electric guitar.

Now, Manson took to the band’s official Facebook page to share that the ‘I Think I’m Paranoid’ dress had sold and raised a massive amount of money. “Oh. My. GLOB!!!!!!!! This Paranoid dress raised over 31 THOUSAND DOLLARS for @gaflosangeles. I am absolutely GOBSMACKED,” began her message.

She continued: “This is a public message to whoever donated so generously to this auction. You are angels – every last one of you – but ESPECIALLY the person who bought my wee dress. You have done something wonderful in the world for people who have lost so much – in some cases EVERYTHING – in the LA fires.

“I don’t know too much about much at all but I do know this: Acts of love, acts of kindness and acts of great generosity- they have the power to SHIFT ENERGY and change the world.
Thank you a million times over. Love trumps Hate. Community is everything. Let’s keep holding each others hands. PS. To whoever bought my dress, I have a gift for you.”

Previously announcing the donation of the dress in an Instagram post, Manson wrote: “I’m really hoping it goes to someone wonderful, someone who loves our band. Someone who will give generously for a good cause. I want you to know that it was hard to let this wee dress of mine go. It’s a tiny little whiff of a thing but it symbolises so much for me.”

She continued: “I hope whoever secures the winning bid will appreciate her. Sending out so much love to everyone in LA affected by the fires. Gratitude to everyone who has organised or participated in events and collections for those who need help so urgently. So many amazing people and organisations in this wild and wonderful city and the gorgeous sprawling state of California. #donateifyoucan🖤 #giveafuckLA”

In an Instagram post shared by Garbage on their official account, the band posted a photo of themselves backstage and revealed that their eighth studio album will be released at some point this year.

“Because we are super mature and sophisticated. And because we have a new record coming out this year. And because it will be our eighth studio album. And it will be our thirtieth year of making music together. And because we are worth it,” read the post’s accompanying caption.

Garbage’s last album, ‘No Gods No Masters’ arrived back in 2021. Speaking to NME in a previous interview, Manson opened up about how the hugely positive response to the project has left her feeling inspired for its soon-to-be-announced follow-up.

“I was really delighted that ‘No Gods No Masters’ was received so well because we had no expectations whatsoever. Going into this next record, I feel a shift. I’m trying to dampen my outrage,” she explained.

“It’s a searchlight, this record. After scorching the earth, we’re coming out of a filthy cave with a searchlight. We’re looking for shards of life and humanity.”

In other news, Manson was one of the many figures who recently urged fans to take part in the first-ever Music Fans’ Voice survey.
