U2

U2 frontman Bono is teaming with Apple Original Films for the forthcoming documentary Bono: Stories of Surrender, which will premiere May 30 on Apple TV+. Directed by Andrew Dominik, the project is based on Bono’s memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story and the one-man theater tour he staged in support of it.

Stories of Surrender is described as “a vivid reimagining” of those shows, which “pulls back the curtain on a remarkable life and the family, friends and faith that have challenged and sustained him, revealing personal stories about his journey as a son, father, husband, activist and rock star.”

In addition, Stories of Surrender will be premiere on May 30 on Apple Vision Pro, making it the first full-length feature film to be available in Apple Immersive Video. Viewers will experience a 180-degree video approximating what it would have been like to be on stage with Bono during the 40 Songs, One Story performances.

Meanwhile, the book version of Stories of Surrender will be released May 27 in an abridged and updated paperback edition “refined to mirror the arc of his one-man show and features a film tie-in book cover and new introduction by the author.” It was so named because each chapter is titled after a different U2 song.

U2 have been off the road since wrapping their residency at Sphere in Las Vegas in March 2024.
