Liam Gallagher is happy for Charli XCX and Sam Fender for their BRIT Award wins, but says that he doesn’t tune in to watch.

Last night’s (March 1) ceremony saw comedian and actor Jack Whitehall returning to host the show for the first time since 2021 and the fifth time overall.

The biggest winner of the night was Charli XCX, who beat the likes of The Last Dinner Party and The Cure for the prestigious Album Of The Year, as well as picking up Artist Of The Year and Best Dance Act, Songwriter Of The Year and Song Of The Year for ‘Guess‘, her collaboration with Billie Eilish.

Elsewhere, Fender picked up the award for Best Alternative/Rock Act off the back of his record-breaking album ‘People Watching‘.

One person who wasn’t watching, though, was the Oasis frontman, who responded to one fan on Twitter/X this morning asking if he had seen the ceremony by saying: “I don’t even watch when I’m FORCED to play them”

Another fan then replied, asking if Gallagher was at least happy for Fender, to which he replied: “Yep and I think Charlie xcx deserves her flowers”

Fans then began to question if Gallagher even felt this way back when Oasis were sweeping the ceremony. “What about when you were there?” one fan asked, to which Liam quickly quipped “Yeah still shit”.

To another, he gave further reasoning for his reluctance to tune in these days, saying: “ITV have ruined it” and that it would take “a fully loaded pea shooter to the bollox” to get him to actually watch.

And, it turns out he won’t be attending next year, post-Oasis reunion, either. One fan wondered who he would “slag off” upon his invitation to the ceremony, but Liam replied: “I’m not going honestly it’s OASIS tour and that’s all folks”.

In other Liam Gallagher news, the Britpop icon shut down tabloid reports claiming that he was looking to buy a “country mansion” in the Cotswolds with the money he makes from the band’s upcoming reunion tour.

He also addressed fans who were speculating about the length of the upcoming shows, jokingly telling them it would be exactly “59 minutes and 59 seconds”.

The shows kick off in July and include dates at Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park, and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium before heading abroad.

Last year, shortly after news of the comeback was shared, The Sun reported details about the photoshoot that saw Liam and Noel come together in 2024.

“The shoot was top secret and barely anyone knew about it,” it claimed. “For their fans to see them together again will be an amazing sight. The atmosphere in the room was fizzing, it was electric.”

Around the same time, an anonymous source reportedly told The Mirror that Oasis’ 2024 press shot had not been photoshopped from two images: “I know it looks like it could be photoshopped but they were both there and they have met up.”

They went on to say that Liam and Noel were “laughing and joking” on set, adding: “It was great to see after all the years apart.”

So far, little is known about which members will be joining Liam and Noel for the massive gigs, although the singer has been sharing hints about the setlists and the hopes for new material.

Earlier this year, the singer shared his love of the Sex Pistols – despite Glen Matlock describing Oasis as “boring”. He also issued a response following thousands of tickets to the Oasis reunion shows being cancelled by Ticketmaster, and hit out at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame following Oasis’ second nomination, claiming that it “is for wankers”.
