Millie Bobby Brown is done with the online criticism of her appearance.

The 21-year-old actress, known for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, shared a passionate video on Instagram on Monday, March 3, addressing the harsh remarks she’s been receiving ever since she debuted her platinum blonde look in February. Many critics claimed she looked older than her age, but Brown isn’t holding back.

“I started in this industry when I was 10 years old. I grew up in front of the world, and for some reason, people can’t seem to grow with me,” Brown explained. “Instead, they act like I’m supposed to stay frozen in time, like I should still look the way I did on Stranger Things Season 1. And because I don’t, I’m now a target.”

The Enola Holmes star –– who is married to Jon Bon Jovi’s son, Jake Bongiovi – also called out the media, calling out specific articles and journalists who have shamed her for her evolving image. “This isn’t journalism. This is bullying,” Brown stated. “The fact that adult writers are spending their time dissecting my face, my body, my choices, it’s disturbing.”

What hurt Brown even more was that some of the critics were women. “We always talk about supporting and uplifting young women, but when the time comes, it seems easier to tear them down for clicks,” she said, expressing her disappointment in the double standard.

The actress made it clear that she would not apologize for growing up on her own terms. “I refuse to apologize for growing up… I will not be shamed for how I look, how I dress, or how I present myself.”
