Last week, the singer released her new song ‘Love In Real Life’, marking her first after a two-year hiatus. She also revealed that the song was the title track of her upcoming album.
She has since confirmed that she will be previewing the new album at three intimate North American concerts. She’s due to perform at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on March 12, Irving Plaza in New York City on March 16 and First Avenue in Minneapolis on March 18.
Yesterday (March 6), Lizzo posted what appears to be a snippet of another track from ‘Love In Real Life’, where she can be seen in a red outfit and lip-syncing to lyrics saying: “I’m Bouta throw my phone away“.
Lizzo’s recent single ‘Love In Real Life’ is an indie rock stomper about loneliness and yearning with a chorus that evokes the funk rock of ‘Purple Rain’-era Prince.
The music video sees the singer preparing for a night out in the club. On the dancefloor, however, she soon finds herself overwhelmed by being around people, who start to appear distorted to her. They follow her out from the club, but not before she stands her ground – with choreography.
Elsewhere, Lizzo recently celebrated reaching her “weight release” goals, telling her followers: “Let this be a reminder you can do anything you put your mind to.”
She also broke her silence in December on the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her in 2023, claiming that she “did nothing wrong”. Lizzo had been sued by three former dancers who claimed to have been subject to sexual harassment and a hostile workplace environment while on tour. The singer denied the claims and said the situation had left her contemplating quitting the music industry.
