Thom Yorke and Mark Pritchard have confirmed details for their collaborative album Tall Tales, the existence of which has been something of an open secret for the past several months since Yorke debuted one of the songs, “Back in the Game,” during his fall 2024 international solo performances. The project will be released May 9 by Warp Records.

Pritchard has been releasing electronic music since the early 1990s under a variety of names, including Global Communication, Shaft and Harmonic 313. He previously enlisted Yorke to sing and co-write the song “Beautiful People” from his 2016 album Under the Sun, and has also remixed Yorke’s solo material.

More from Spin:

The pair first met in 2016 when Radiohead toured Australia and have been sending musical ideas back and forth since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

“Mark sent me a large file of MP3s of ideas during lockdown,” Yorke says. “There were so many great ones, I knew straight away that i had to drop what I was doing. It felt very much that I had not been anywhere like this before — both as soon as I put my headphones on and started trying to find the vocals, words and sounds, but also, as it progressed, watching [director] Jonathan [Zawada] respond so freely and spontaneously with all his video and artwork ideas. It was mental, and I feel lucky to have been involved. I am looking forward to this finally coming out. Tall Tales is very important to me. I hope people get it, and get to hear it!”

Album track “This Conversation Is Missing Your Voice” is out now in tandem with a Zawada-directed video.
